Just say 'Hi'.

In his first children's book, Stare if You Dare, Packer offers the answer parents have been searching for, for years. How does one teach their child to interact with a person who has a disability, when they doubt their own capacity to understand the matter?

This beautifully illustrated story was written for children, but adults will appreciate the honest approach to a topic that is, at times, difficult to navigate. The message in Stare if You Dare is one for the ages.

Kyle Packer has created a heartfelt story that touches each and everyone of us. I've been waiting a long time to have a story like this in my classroom. I can't think of a better tool to spark a family or classroom discussion on people who may be different. The story allows us to view the world from Tommy's eyes, which gives most kids a new perspective. In the end, it's Tommy who makes the brave move, and I'll bet after reading this book, your kids will too.
